
The festival has ensured some Hollywood glitz with a tribute to actor Tony Curtis, known for comedies such as Some Like It Hot, and a special award for lifetime achievement to be presented to Alan Ladd Jr., former president of 20th Century Fox and MGM/UA and producer of Braveheart.
Brian de Palma is scheduled to give a master class to filmmakers.
Twenty films, including two from Quebec filmmakers, are entered in the World Competition, where the major prizes of the festival are awarded.
