What if a huge meteor hit planet Earth, you ask?

This is a really cool animation of the end of the world based on the scientific realities. This isn't something that we should spend our time worrying about (since it looks like everything, including us, would come to an end rather quickly anyway), but it should remind us of just how fragile and precious life is.

A fetishistic approach to security

We spend far more effort defending our countries against specific movie-plot threats, rather than the real, broad threats. In the US during the months after the 9/11 attacks, we feared terrorists with scuba gear, terrorists with crop dusters and terrorists contaminating our milk supply. Before long, we're envisioning an entire movie plot, without Bruce Willis saving the day. And we're scared.

Equipped with a style that could have played well in Mad or even Playboy, Dick Hafer lampooned any subject declared as a "Republican Interest". Gays, Hippies, Abortion, Ted Kennedy, all sorts of terrible demons. But for everything he hated, he sure seemed fixated on talking - at length - about the nasty stuff. What would a psychologist say?

Be forewarned: These comics were not intended to be read by non-Republicans and are somewhat explicit in their hate-based descriptions. But that's what Hafer fans lovingly refer to as "that ol' dick magic".
