IF U CN RD THIS, shame on you !

Provocative Hungarian Poster for ‘Shame’ - A Bold And Anguished Look at Addiction
The addiction is sex, a fact which elicited an NC-17 rating, though it is shown here, while unavoidably gratuitous, as no different than an addiction to booze or pills or powders. It is all-consuming and painfully unpleasurable.

British artist Joe Hill drew the world's largest and longest 3D anamorphic street painting in the Canary Wharf district of London.

I see what you're saying

These two ads are part of a campaign for a radio program which presents a rather creepy but unforgettable concept.

Do you see spots?

I thought this ad was clever. Open it full-size by clicking on it, then focus on the pink bottle for 30 sec. or so. Hopefully the product works as well!

The Epic Story of Sapporo Beer

This commercial (short film?) for Sapporo, by the firm Dentsu out of Canada, is just so astonishingly good: a two-minute upward vertical scroll through the bowels and history of Japan. It's embedded below, but do watch it in a larger format for the full effect.

No God?...No Problem!

Celebrating a new kind of holiday tradition, the American Humanist Association has launched a new advertising campaign. Ads will be blazoned across transit systems in five cities--including Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco--marking the first-ever nation-wide humanist holiday advertising campaign.

"No God?...No Problem!" proclaim the ads, featuring an image of several smiling, Santa hat-clad individuals. The ads will kick off in Washington, D.C. in time for Thanksgiving weekend, running inside 200 buses, fifty rail cars and on the side or tail of twenty buses. The campaign will continue with ads appearing on select buses in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco starting in early December.

"Unscrupulous uses of the Olympic marks"

Police answering a 911 call about a home invasion in East Vancouver Wednesday found no break-in suspects when they arrived but did discover 107,000 ecstasy tablets, some imprinted with the Olympic rings symbol.

"The officer saw large bags of multi-coloured pills in plain view, which the officer believed to be consistent with ecstasy," Desmarais said.

Some of the tablets were stamped with peace signs and some with the Olympic rings.

Vancouver's Olympic organizing committee has vigorously pursued unlicensed use of the Olympic rings symbol in the past and a spokesman said it was aware of the Vancouver police seizure.

"This illustrates that there are and will be unscrupulous uses of the Olympic marks," said Bill Cooper, VANOC's director of commercial rights management. "Like the Vancouver police, we will continue to be diligent in our surveillance and rigorous followup."

Video ad embedded in magazine

Shades of Blade Runner, Necromancer or Star Trek ... The current issue of Entertainment Weekly has a tiny video screen embedded in a two-page CBS ad that auto-plays when you turn the page. The screen is controlled by a slim PCB sandwiched between the pages. Have a look at the video to see what I mean.

Rainbow Flags go up on Bank Street

It may not be by official decree, but rainbow flags and decals are going up at businesses along a six-block stretch of Bank Street, the efforts of a non-profit group committed to having the area gain visibility as a gay village.

"It's exciting to have real, tangible results now," said Glenn Crawford, who last year spearheaded a campaign to have the city officially recognize Bank Street between Nepean and James streets as a gay village.

Waiting for a bus? Try walking instead!

One of the latest and probably oddest advertising devices can be seen in the capital of Netherlands, Amsterdam.

Innovative but also a bit weird, some bus shelters in Amsterdam have been fitted with weight meters that the weight of people waiting for public transportation and whether they should start losing some extra flab.
